Fraser Forster saved Tottenham again
Tottanham managed to get point against Glasgow Rangers away thanks to currently the best player in squad - Fraser Forster. Thirty six years old made few fantastic saves and one near the end was just superb. Rangers player moved around two Spurs defenders went alone on like 8-9 meters from goal if not even closer and made strong shot, but "our big man" maanged to deflect it to corner. I must say I already saw that ball inside the net, just like I saw that attempt he saved by hand vs Borunemouth or just like I saw it inside when he made double save, the best save of the season, vs Chelsea in first half. It happen so quickly and my first impression was lad missed the goal, but when I saw it's corner and slow motion I understood what happen! It was just amazing. "Six foot seven on the goal of our eleven" also tipped dangerous balls over crossbar into corner couple of times. For me he was undisputed man of the match last night and our best player in previous 4 games. I had very low expectations from this match, but despite that Spurs players managed to disappoint me in first half. Rangers was better rival which looked like bigger threat for goal. Spurs had some efforts on goal, one by Werner ended like always few meters above goal, other from Son was so weak that 12 years old could save it. Tottenham players looked very bad on the pitch. Son, Werner, Johson, Bissouma, Maddison couldn't control flow of match last night despite opponent on other side was not really top notch. Despite fact that they have Scottish League Cup final against Celtic in few days they looked like they wanted ball more! Future Real Madrid star Porro swam yet again in first half, but his current club was not punished for this. He slide toward out line on his knees like some striker who just scored a goal and opponent stormed toward our box... If that was prepartion for celebration of future goal it was not place and time for that practice Pedro! Suffering Timo Werner was removed from squad in second half and Dejan Kulusevski came in. North London side played better in that period, but conceded goal after I don't know which dangerous attack of Rangers. Yet another time we saw alone player doing easy tap in. Home fans fell into trance, but Spurs didn't disappear. Johnson had chance, but his effort ended above crossbar, there was one more from close range saved by goalkeeper. On the other side Forster saved one dead chance by superb save of shot from close range, but linesman signaled offside after, but that doesn't diminish this save! Rangers scored one goal disallowed rightfully for not small offside. Then Dejan Kulusevski fired ball home from inside the box after action with Solanke who nicely let ball through his legs so Deki can continue action. Swede made good low effort and defenders and goalkeeper were not up to the task and result was 1:1. After that Son finally made few correct passes and after his second ball came to Maddison who for some reason didn't want to shot on target from good position form inside the box, but made cross toward Solanke whose attempt looked more on pass to galkeeper than on shot on target. Near the end Rangers looked more dangerous again, but Fraser saved that big chance and saved point for Spurs. This team is struggling badly on the pitch and it's easy to see. Some players look like they play against us and not for us, some look disinterested and some like Son like they lost every football ability they had in the past. I don't know why, but he's looking very bad on the pitch and I'm sad about it. It's not clear is it because of problems with contract and club's wish to trigger one year extension, while he might want new contract and bigger salary while Levy might offer him lower, or maybe he wants to go like free agent in the summer or he has some off the field issue ? I am not sure but he's giving me same vibes like Kane under Nuno when he wanted to go to Manchester City and didn't want to play seriously. Werner is what he is, player incapable of doing anything. Way how Rangers defender dispossessed him or how he missed the target or went in out with ball again were ridiculous. Johnson was non existent a part from missing his chance. From that entire attack last night only Kulusevski looked like professional football player who is in training. What to say about midfield ? I thought Bissouma, Maddison, Bentancur is one of the best if not the best midfield in Premier League and they can't dominate game of football against Glasgow Rangers ?! I want to congratulate to Fraser Forster on his performances in last 4 games. In the past before Tottenham games I asked myself what will Son, Madders, Bentancur do and these days I ask myself what incredible save by Fraser Forster I will see in this game ? I'm ready for big struggle against Southampton on Sunday because Spurs players are currently playing like some midtable Championship side which have Lav Yashin on goal...
